Over the last ten years the Tonbridge Lions Club has raised in excess of
£220,000. 00
from the generosity of the people of the Tonbridge Area.
Most of this money has been distributed to charities and projects in and around the Town.
These
donations can be split into four categories:

A Cheque to the value of £1,853 was presented by Lion President Mike Fenn to the Ambulance Crew. The money was raised through the Town Raffle drawn on Carnival Day

Drug Awareness Programmes for local schools,

Cash prizes are awarded annually to a young persons in recognition for services to the community.
Financial grants are made to young people undertaking charitable or welfare work experience overseas

During the year to 30th June 2006, a total of £7,451 was given to Youth Projects within the area. These donations included monies towards adventure holidays, drug awareness trust, a football competition and many other good causes for the benefit of Young People,
The
main emphasis is on helping elderly people who live alone.
Charitable funds are used for outings, an annual party,
Christmas distribution of money to those in need
and
specific items which help improve the quality of life.
During
the year to 30th June 2006 a total of £2,710 was used
to assist the elderly in the area. Over £2,500 was distributed at
Christmas. In
addition to the above, a further £1,000 was spent organising
the 'Seniors Singles Party' in March
2007.
Disabled
We also provide the funds for special equipment and projects, outings and
holidays for the disabled and help with individual hardship cases.
There is now an annual 'It's a knockout' day for children and youths with learning difficulties.
During the year to June 2006 over £6,100 was made available for disabled projects. These included helping Spadework with transport when their vehicle was stolen.
Special equipment was provided to Ridge View School
Tonbridge & District Mencap for transport
Assistance for the purchase of a mobility scooter
Various donations have been made throughout the year to to assist the disabled and £2,000 was spent on two major events,
'It's a Knock Out' and 'Lions Day'
